TVGMS Hosts Open HouseClick To Read
The Tehachapi Valley Gem and Mineral Society hosted an open house Saturday in hopes of attracting new members and finding space for its popular and expanding lapidary workshop.
TVGMS is dedicated to educating its members and the public about geology and earth sciences.
The event displayed members' gem and mineral collections, as well as a photo of the inside of a 34-million-year-old geode. Visitors watched as club members cut open geodes with the society's cutting saw.
Also on display were various tools members use to cut and polish stones to make fine jewelry pieces prized by local jewelry artisans.

A rolling stone gathers no mossClick To Read
Tehachapi's Gem and Mineral group is always rolling along and up to something interesting. Did you make it to our yard sale June 24? The yard sale started two years ago as a way to assist the Senior Center after a rough couple years of COVID. The pandemic forced seniors to stay home to avoid contact and yet the building and utilities continued to rack up bills. Given Tehachapi Valley Gem and Mineral Society's close relationship with the Senior Center, we knew we had to do something to help. And, so, the yard sale began.
